What was left in the end
Waterways and peat deposits made entrepreneurs aware of Augustfehn. In 1856 the Oldenburg Ironworks Society was founded in Augustfehn, which drove the economic rise of the Fehnort. Today the boiler house with water tower, two halls and parts of the wall are still preserved from the site. The unusual water tower can be seen from afar and has become a symbol for Augustfehn. Leaning to the south is the boiler house, where the steam boiler used to drive the machines. Accompanied by a local guide, we will guide you through an interesting and remarkable period in Augustfehn's history.
