The tour starts from the paddle and pedal station jetty at high tide (max. about 2 hours after high tide) on the Augustfehner Canal. At low tide the threshold is not passable. In this case, another jetty is located behind the threshold in the Augustfehner Canal. At the first bend, turn right onto the Aper Tief until the bridge. Just before the bridge, turn left into the Nordloher Canal. You can now follow the Nordloher Canal for an hour until it merges with the Nordloher-Barßeler Tief. Keep right here. This is followed by an approximately one-hour passage through a dense reed belt and small bays where individual boats may be moored. On the left, the entrance to Barßel harbor comes into view. Here is the destination of the tour, the paddle and pedal station Barßel.
Those who paddle a bit up the Aper Tief in Augustfehn reach a freshwater mudflat area with rare flora and fauna.

Direction Augustfehn, about 1.8 km turn right onto Stahlwerkstraße and continue towards Augustfehn. At the canal about 2.7 km to the traffic light intersection, here turn left towards Apen and immediately after the bridge turn right again into Steges Helgen. Follow the street along the canal through the settlement to the paddle and pedal station.

By canoe to the neighboring station and by bike back again.
Safety guidelines
All participants should be able to swim safely.
Alcohol consumption is not allowed on the water either.
Keep distance from other watercraft. Canoes always have to yield and are sometimes poorly seen by motorboat drivers.
Start time must be coordinated with the tide times so that no tour against the current threatens.
