The alternative route of the Deutsche Fehnroute allows you to halve the 173 km long circular route.

A widely travelled man with a lot of imagination once called the vast, flat land of the Jümmiger Hammrich the “Mesopotamia of East Frisia”. Even if this comparison is certainly a bit far-fetched, the recreation area between Leda and Jümme with the officially recognised recreation resort Detern still has a lot to offer, especially appreciated by nature lovers. The "Zweistromland" lying between the dikes is only part of the Jümme Samtgemeinde. The geest with tree-lined embankments and the remains of a once treeless and shrubless raised bog stand in sharp contrast to the lush green and flat meadows of the Hammriche.
