tide-dependent canoe route from Augustfehn to Stickhausen, distance approx. 11km, duration approx. 3 hours

The tour starts from the jetty of the paddle-and-pedal station Augustfehn - definitely at high water - on the Augustfehn Canal. If the water level is not high enough, the Solschwelle shortly before the confluence with the Aper Tief cannot be passed. For this, there is another jetty for boarding and disembarking below the Solschwelle.
Shortly after this jetty, the confluence of the Augustfehn Canal into the Aper Tief is reached. Keep right. After the next river bend paddle straight ahead and leave the Nordloher Canal on the left.
From this junction it is about 45 minutes to the rest jetty Holtgast. Another 30 minutes later the rest jetty Französischer Weg is reached.
After this jetty, the Aper Tief flows into the Jümme, keep right here. From now on the Jümme flows around the town Detern in a wide arc, about 1 hour to the jetty of the paddle-and-pedal station Stickhausen, which is located before a large white bascule bridge on the right bank.

At the rest jetty Holtgast you cross on the water the historic border between Protestant East Frisia and the Catholic Oldenburg region

Our combo route:
Combine canoeing and cycling for a great day trip with paddle and pedal. Paddle to the neighboring station by canoe and return by bike.

Safety guidelines

All participants should be able to swim safely.
Alcohol consumption is not allowed on the water either.
Maintain distance from other watercraft. Canoes must always give way and are sometimes poorly seen by motorboat operators.
Start time must be coordinated with the tide times so that no route against the current threatens.
