- Start: Paddle and pedal station Barßel
- Destination: Paddle and pedal station Augustfehn
Those who paddle a bit up the Aper Tief in Augustfehn reach a freshwater mudflat area with rare flora and fauna.
From the dock of the paddle and pedal station Barßel, the route briefly goes over the exit of the Barßel harbor. There it turns right. Next follows a section lasting about an hour, passing through a dense reed belt with small bays. Shortly before the end of this section, there is a rest dock at the road bridge. Keep left at the branch of the Nordloher Canal. The Nordloher Canal then leads about another hour north. At the mouth of the Nordloher Canal into the Aper Tief keep right and shortly after turn left into the Augustfehn Canal to reach the endpoint of the canoe tour, the dock of the paddle and pedal station Augustfehn. If the Solschwelle is not yet passable, there is a dock shortly before the threshold to set down before the dock.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
Our combined route:
Combine canoeing and cycling for a great day trip with paddle and pedal. Paddle to the neighboring station by canoe and return by bike.Safety guidelines
All participants should be able to swim confidently.
Alcohol consumption is not allowed on the water.
Keep distance from other watercraft. Canoes must always give way and are sometimes poorly seen by motorboat drivers.
Start time must be coordinated with tide times to avoid paddling against the current.
