You leave Varel along many fields and ride past the idyllic Klosterhof Grabstede.
The path then leads through the Neuenburg primeval forest, which has hardly been touched by humans since the 17th century, so you can find characteristic oaks here up to 800 years old. Once in Neuenburg itself, cozy local spots invite you to take a break before you can visit the venerable Neuenburg Castle. On the way to Zetel, a small detour to the Rutteler Mill (about 3 kilometers away, see map) with a natural food store and café is recommended. From there, the route continues over a former railway line to the town of Zetel. Then it goes further over the Zeteler Marsh to the Petershörner Lock and from there past the Dangaster Tief into the North Sea spa town Dangast. Through the town and along the dike, it continues to the Varel harbor and back to the city center. Due to the length, this route is especially suitable for e-bikes.
