Fest der 1000 Laternen
The Festival of 1,000 Lanterns officially kicks off on Friday evening. The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. at the festival grounds.
Opening Ceremony: Local Association Tavern, Bahnhofstraße
The grand lantern parade begins on Friday evening with Route 1—the first visible sign that the Festival of 1,000 Lanterns is underway.
Starting at 7:00 p.m., the first festively decorated floats will set off and make their way through Augustfehn. Even before the main parade begins, the special atmosphere for which the festival is known is already taking shape here: illuminated floats, music, and the first spectators lining the route.
Route 1 is the opening act—compact, atmospheric, and deliberately scheduled earlier. It leads the floats through selected streets in town and joins Route 2 on the way back toward the festival grounds.
Route 2 is the grand lantern parade—the moment the evening has been building toward.
Starting at 8:00 p.m., the entire procession sets off: floats, marching groups, marching bands, and countless lights make their way through Augustfehn together. What began as the opening segment now becomes an experience that captivates the entire town.

DJ Lucky takes center stage on Friday night. Starting at 9:00 p.m., he’ll take over the tent—and set the tone for the night.
His sound gets the crowd moving right away, without any long build-up. Full energy, crisp beats—straight into the weekend.
Friday belongs to him. And to everyone who wants to party.
