Eisenhüttenplatz Augustfehn
In 1856 the Oldenburg Ironworks Society in Augustfehn was founded on today's Eisenhüttenplatz, which drove the economic rise of the Fehnort. Today the boiler house with water tower, two halls and parts of the wall are still preserved from the site. The unusual water tower can be seen from afar and has become a symbol for Augustfehn. Leaning to the south is the boiler house, where the steam boiler used to drive the machines. Today the square is used for public events and as a parking lot for the nearby train station.
public place
