The well-fed heron sits dozing behind the observation wall, a little withdrawn so as not to disturb other conspecifics out on the water. However, he has to struggle with a cheeky, cheeky frog who is sitting in front of him on the Aper globe and seems to be cheerfully telling him: "You won't get me!" - As long as the heron is full, the frog may be safe, but when the stomach comes up, the cards will be reshuffled!

At this point, Jörg Ridderbusch's work once again addresses the abundance of birds in the municipality. At this point here in Holtgast, a dike area was created from 2012 by relocating the dike line, which today is of national importance, especially for migratory and resting birds. So twice a year we expect international "visiting birds" here. But also for the rest of the year the area is a refuge for many birds that can be observed here.
