From 2017, a new village renewal plan was drawn up with the public participation of citizens. Among other things, the Aper were asked to name their favorite place in the community. The aim was to improve the quality of the community if necessary and to make locals and guests visible. From the more than 60 mentions, a representative selection of 15 locations was found that are located in all districts and are particularly popular places. In order to add value to these places and to make them public, signage was deliberately avoided because a purely informative presentation does not do justice to the emotional value of the various locations. Instead, artistic objects refer to the places and value them. They come from the Oldenburg artist Jörg Ridderbusch. All works are made of steel and reflect the places where they stand. The material goes well with the community, which has a close relationship to this building material with the ironworks and the steelworks. Ridderbusch tracks down his favorite places in a humorous and playful way and tells stories.
Other stories related to the places are gradually being added to by means of listening stations, where those interested can learn more about the places and their significance in an entertaining and entertaining way.
