Waterways and peat deposits made entrepreneurs aware of Augustfehn. In 1856, the Oldenburg Ironworks Society in Augustfehn was founded, which drove the economic rise of the Fehnort. The boiler house with water tower, two halls and parts of the wall are still preserved from the site. The unusual water tower is visible from afar and has become a symbol for Augustfehn. To the south is the boiler house, where the steam boiler used to drive the machines.
