The Historic Harvest Festival in the North

In the past, harvest time in agriculture was hard, backbreaking work.

We, the Association for the Preservation of Local Heritage and Traditions (Verein für Heimat- und Brauchtumspflege e.V.),
have been commemorating traditional harvesting methods for many years—always on the second Saturday in August—with a grain-reaping ceremony following old customs.
Starting at 1:00 p.m., farmers from Aperberg, dressed in traditional costumes, will demonstrate how grain was harvested over the past two centuries.
Many machines and tools from the past 200 years will be on display! From the winnowing machine to the self-binder and all the way to the combine harvester. From the flail to the spike thresher and the Weiher—an 18th-century threshing roller—all the way to the hired thresher!
Everything has been restored and is in full working order!

The purpose of this event is to promote cultural values, preserve agricultural traditions, and make the functions of historic farm machinery accessible to the general public, especially young people.
